Is it me, or do all mascaras claim long and full lashes?
***BTW this is in no way a sponsored or affiliated post- true, genuine review.
If you’re anything like me, you love long and full lashes and mascara is one of your makeup staples and must haves.
I was unfortunately not blessed with long, voluminous lashes- although with the right mascara I am quite happy with my own without getting extensions. But the RIGHT mascara is essential!
I’ve tried my fair share of drug store brands as well as well reputable beauty brands and I have to be honest and say that I’m happiest with my old faithful drugstore brand mascara at half the price. I’ve found that my drugstore mascara actually keeps my lashes full, long, and curled up without clumping, smudging or running. While some of the nicer brands I’ve tried for two or three times the price, often weight them down and will either fill or elongate; not both.
For a while now I’ve been seeing a ton of Thrive Causemetics sponsored posts on the gram of their Liquid Lash Extension Mascara™. And like always, I was skeptical it actually worked. But my drugstore mascara of choice has recently been out of stock, and while I do have a backup that I’m fine with- I thought what the hell, lets give this a try.
If you’re not familiar with Thrive Causemetics, I invite you to check out their website and learn about their story. I love finding good clean beauty products and LOVE a company that gives back, so it really seemed like a great fit and definitely worth a try!
I’ve been using it on and off over the last two weeks and see for yourself the video below. I kept the whole video, almost 2.5 minutes sped up because I wanted you to see the process.
Video and photos don’t lie. As you can see, yes my eyelashes have a clear extension on them and the mascara works quite well on thickness too.
My honest review; I don’t love it and here’s why
- I have to do multiple and much more layers of mascara than I’ve normally done with any other I’ve used
- It weights my lashes down, particularly my left eye’s. I spend a lot of time, trying to bring them back up and properly separate the lashes
- The product is very elastic, which I’m sure is what creates the length. As it begins to dry, and I’m still applying, it clumps in multiple areas and can be very difficult to spread the lashes.
- The mascara is not waterproof (which it does not claim to be and I know it’s best not to use waterproof) and at the first sign of watery eyes or a drop of water even touching your lashes, the mascara begins to fall off your lashes in elastic pieces. This is great when I’m washing my face and removing my makeup but not so great when I have allergies and sneeze more than twice in a row.
Now, is it a terrible mascara? Absolutely NOT! It really is liquid lash extensions! I think simply, my lashes aren’t the best suited for it. Having said that; there have been days I get it just right and am quite happy with the results.
If you don’t have a problem keeping your lashes curled, I think this is likely to be a great product for you!
Either way, Thrive Causemetics was absolutely right in their advertisement and name of this mascara as you can see truly extended my lashes! The brand has all sorts of beauty products and given their mission, I definitely want to try out some more of their products, so I will keep you posted!
In the meantime, if you’ve tried their mascara, I’d love to hear from you! Or tell me what is your favorite mascara and why!
